Meet Your New Commission Artist

Jeanne Matheny

Jeanne was raised with 6 siblings and had an adventurous outdoor life as a child and young adult of camping, fishing and hiking in the mountains of the Southwest. Her love of nature and painting nature scenes was a natural evolution of her childhood.

She and her laJeanne & her painting of 7ft Rainbow Trout & Flies Compressed Croppedte artisan husband Dwight Matheny founded both Artistic Glass of Atlanta (Georgia) and Artglass Studios & Company (Florida), where as a lead designer, Jeanne created thousands of intricate and original stained glass door and window designs for over 25 years. Her designs grace the finest homes in the greater Atlanta and Tampa Bay areas.

A member of several art guilds, Jeanne’s fine art oils and acrylics focus on still life paintings, birds, fish, other wildlife, and nature scenes. Jeanne also brings her special love of children to life with whimsical, fantastical and brightly colored backdrops and murals for professional children’s theatre productions and children’s rooms.

Jeanne has been awarded 2 Best in Show and several Honorable Mention Awards in Georgia Art Competitions (2009-2011). Her artwork and commissioned pieces are in homes throughout Georgia,"Summers Gold" - click here to see the gallery North Carolina and Florida.

Having traveled a part of the world and lived in places as diverse as East Grinstead, England, Rhode Island, Los Angeles and many places in between, Jeanne now makes her home in the historic, seaside village of Dunedin, Florida—where she sees natural beauty all around her and is encouraged to paint this beauty and share it with others.

She also has a small outdoor adventure map company “Backroads Less Traveled” which allows her to share with others the myriad of magical, little-known outdoor waterfalls, hiking trails and other gifts from Mother Nature that she has had the good fortune to discover and experience.
